We talked to our new Fitness instructor, Elaine Tan on the benefits of personal training.
1) How would hiring a personal trainer help me with my fitness?
The role of a personal trainer (PT) is to help determine what is best for your physical needs and to help meet your physical requirement. They play an essential role in helping you to meet your fitness goals and ensure that you’re always on the right track in order for you to see your health progress and your body transformation process.
2) How frequently should I come for workouts?
Depending on your health and fitness goals, you’ll need to commit to a minimum of 3 days of exercise each week to see results. Any fewer than that, each workout will feel like you’re starting all over again, each and every time. Healthy adults all should be performing at least 150 minutes of moderate intensity cardiovascular, 75 minutes of vigorous intensity, or a combination of moderate and vigorous intensity exercise per week. Resistance and flexibility training should be practiced at least twice per week. Don’t forget that you can break these recommended workout times into smaller chunks, if necessary. Not having enough time to exercise is no longer an acceptable excuse.
3) What if I have a medical condition or pre-existing injury?
Depending on your recent fitness and exercise programmes (or lack thereof), your personal trainer may ask you for an approval from a doctor if they believe that your medical conditions, and pre-existing or past injuries will affect your participation in a training session. If you are under the care of a doctor for any reason, or if you are over 40 and starting exercise for the first time, you will be asked to see your doctor to obtain their clearance first.
4) How would someone benefit most from personal training or working with a personal trainer?
Finding a right PT is important for you to be able to transform your health and fitness efforts. Some people are happy to follow their own programme at their own time and pace. For those with lack the time, motivation, or the energy to train effectively on their own, a PT can be their answer. The support, advise and encouragement comes with Safe and Effective Exercises technique to help you to avoid injuries.
5) How quickly will I see the results?
Expect to feel the results of your training sooner than you see them. Individuals who start a new exercise program and are consistent in getting their workouts done typically report improvements in sleep, mood, and energy levels within 2 to 3 weeks. Changes in Body Composition often take longer to notice. High workout consistencies and the closer you adhere to your nutrition plan, the sooner the results will become noticeable.
